A man was charged after allegedly stealing more than $250,000 worth of medical supplies from Maury Regional Medical Center.

The Maury County Sheriff's Office said 39-year-old Tommy John Riker surrendered to deputies on May 11th and was charged with 54 counts of money laundering.

Beginning in January of 2017, Riker had allegedly stolen more than $600,000 worth of various medical supplies from the hospital then sold them online.

Criminal Investigator for the 22nd Judicial District Attorney's Office Tommy Goetz began investigating the allegations in August of last year and that is when Maury Regional fired Riker.

Officials say, in total, Riker received more than $250,000.00 from the sale of the stolen medical supplies. If convicted, Riker's facing up to 15-25 years in prison for the theft and up to 8-12 years for each count of money laundering.
