The month of May can feature temperature extremes, and this weekend is no exception.
While many consider May to be the unofficial start of summer, it will feel more like winter in time for Mother’s Day.
This cold snap could mean frost for spots in Giles County, so plan to protect gardens this weekend.
Blackberry winter does not have a formal meteorological or climatological definition, but blackberries are blooming and beginning to produce some fruit, and it’s getting cold.
A cold front will swing into Giles County on Friday, bringing widespread rain showers as well as a blast of Arctic air to the area.
The cold, dense air will spread through the county and temperatures will drop to the upper 30s for many locations.
The county should expect chilly afternoon highs with 10 degrees below average for mid May.
