Giles County had a short observance for the annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday's WKSR Bonus Hour  with local leaders.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation".
The National Day of Prayer exists to mobilize unified public prayer for America and it was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
The president signs a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
