Giles  County  High  School  senior  Elizabeth  Cardin takes home first place in the local Giles Memorial VFW Auxiliary  Voice  of  Democracy  essay  contest  and  third  place in the VFW Fifth District contest.
The Voice of Democracy contest is open to all students, including home-schooled students, in grades 9-12.
Cardin will enter college in the fall at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
