A round of severe thunderstorms moved through the Tennessee Valley Sunday evening. The damaging winds knocked down numerous large trees and power lines, leaving Giles County with a large clean up effort.
According to Road Superintendent Barry Hyatt there were 32 trees across roads in the county and power was out throughout the night.
Unfortunately, more storms are in the forecast today (Monday).
Additional thunderstorms form in the late afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could produce gusty winds and small hail.
Keep in mind that southern Tennessee was under a Marginal Risk on Sunday evening, yet damaging winds leveled dozens of trees across the area. This means that any potential for severe storms should be taken seriously,  especially since widespread wind damage is possible in the region.
Wind gusts as high as 58+ mph are possible with the storms, which will arrive after 8pm today. Hail is possible as well, though wind gusts and frequent lightning will be the main impacts with this system.
