Giles County Schools announce the approval for emergency Meals-to-You program after May 22

Giles County School Nutrition will continue serving meals to all students until May 22 every Monday and Thursday at the drive thru locations (Elkton Elementary, Minor Hill Elementary, Pulaski Elementary, and Richland Elementary) and daily bus routes (check the www.gcboe.us   web page for times and locations) Monday thru Friday.  Giles County School Nutrition wants to continue to provide food and nutrition to our students even during this time while schools are closed.  We are announcing a new program that will deliver meals to your doorstep for free.  This program is called Meals-to-You and is a partnership between Giles County School Nutrition, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Baylor University.  Giles County has received approval for emergency Meals-to-You (eMTY) that will provide weekday breakfasts and lunches to students who are receiving meals at their school but temporarily cannot receive school meals due to the emergency school closures.  Students will receive 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches every two weeks mailed directly to the student’s home while schools are closed due to COVID-19 or until June 30, 2020.  All foods are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration.  This meal service will begin after May 22 when Giles County Schools will no longer be offering meals at the drive thru or bus route.  Enrollment to participate in this program begins May 1 and will close May 11.  After May 11 applicants will not be able to participate in this program.  Families are encouraged to enroll before May 11 to avoid missing this opportunity.  Details about the program will be posted on the web page www.gcboe.us and on the Giles County Board of Education Facebook page.

Children ages 1 – 18 can participate if there is a child living in the household that is enrolled in Giles County Schools.

Families can enroll at the following link and choosing Giles County Schools as your district.  Families will need to provide an email address in the registration process.  If you do not have an email address you can use a friend or neighbors email to receive any correspondence from eMTY program once you have enrolled.
