Strawberry picking season began this month and berry farm owners are taking additional safety precautions for visitors amid the coronavirus epidemic.
This year, most owners say  they plan to implement a scheduling system to limit the number of visitors.
The University of Tennessee’s Center for Profitable Agriculture  recommends farm visitors to wash their hands before and after picking.  The plan also calls for an aggressive cleaning schedule of the farm’s facilities.
Most farms will also limit access to a building where berries are weighed and purchased. All transactions will take place outside.
