Both of Giles County’s state legislators have qualified to be on the Aug. 6 State Primary ballot with the qualifying deadline Thursday.
State Representative Clay Doggett from 70th District is unopposed while 28th District State Senator Joey Hensley will face James Gray, from Maury County. Gray is running as an independent and will be on the November 3rd ballot,  but not the August ballot.
Barry Hyatt is unopposed on the August ballot in his bid for re-election for Giles County Superintendent of Roads.
In the Assessor of Property’s race, incumbent Tommy Hyatt is running against Tracy Armstrong, Carl (Bookie) Evans, Tommy Gowan and Nell Maultsby.
On the Giles County Commission, Joseph Sutton and Larry Worsham are running for re-election in District 6.
Even numbered school board districts are also on the Aug. 6 ballot.
Incumbent Tommy Pope has qualified to run for re-election in District 2, Incumbent Katie Journey and challenger Leigh Brymer are running in District 4; and Willa Smith and incumbent Debra Poole Tillman are running in District 6.
Tillman was appointed by the county commission to finish the term of Charles McElroy.
