The Giles County Board of Education will meet in regular session tonight in the Central Office.

On the agenda is job descriptions for athletic directors, head coaches and assistant coaches.

The director’s search process is also on the agenda to include a timeline for accepting applications and holding interviews.

During a recent work session, School Board Attorney Tim Underwood gave his opinion that the board needs to take applications and hold interviews before hiring a new director.

Vickie Beard has served as acting director of schools since June. Underwood said Beard’s contract allows her to be a candidate for the permanent director position.

Board member Knox Vanderpool said he would like to see the process kept as simple as possible with no extra money spent on consulting firms.

Also, on the 5 p.m. agenda is the 2020-21 school calendar, and bids for five school buses.
