Three people were transported to Nashville hospitals late Saturday night after a vehicle collided with an Amish buggy. 

The crash was reported just before 11 pm on Highway 43 near Three Oaks Market.

Members of the Ethridge and Summertown fire departments and Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to the collision.

Two medical helicopters were called to the scene and transported two victims, identified as a male and female, to a Nashville Hospital with serious injuries while a third was taken by Lawrence County EMS to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

The identity of the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident is not currently known, however, is believed not to have been seriously hurt in the crash.

Highway 43 was closed for a time while rescue operations were underway. The crash is being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
