The Maury County School Board will likely call upon the Tennessee School Board Association to assist the district in its search for a new superintendent.

The session follows the board’s 7-3 decision not to renew a contract with Superintendent Chris Marczak earlier this month.

The board set Monday, February 10th as its next formal meeting in the search process.

Using the organization’s services will cost Maury schools district about $11,000 depending on what services the board chooses to use.

Giles County School Board made an announcement recently that they are also in search of a school director.

The local director’s search process is on the next board agenda to include a timeline for accepting applications and holding interviews.

During a recent work session, Giles County School Board Attorney Tim Underwood gave his opinion that the the board needs to take applications and hold interviews before hiring a new director.

Vickie Beard has served as acting director of schools since June.
