The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Alderman approved filing improvement grants that would support the Pulaski Fire Department.

The three improvement grants are provided by WalMart, Fire House Subs and the Fire Support Foundation and does not require the city to contribute money.

The board also approved one matching grant that would require the city to contribute funds provided by a FEMA grant program.

Pulaski Firefighter Jamie Ayres said these grants are the best way to stretch out the life of their gear.

The FEMA Grant, if awarded to the local Fire Department would be used for self-contained breathing apparatuses, a device required to be replaced every 15 years.
