Martin Methodist College (MMC) announces that junior and senior accounting majors will join a MBA candidate as participants of the 2020 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

MMC's VITA participants are all certified in the Volunteer Standards of Conduct, Intake Interviewing, and Basic Tax Preparation. They will prepare income tax returns for community members who are either elderly or have low to moderate incomes, as defined by the earned income tax credit threshold.

To prepare for their participation, these volunteers first studied taxes in the fall semester with the VITA program's Link & Learn lessons, and all were required to take exams that certify them at a specific level.

Recent MMC graduates and Martin Hall Administration Assistant Haley Kinder will set up appointments for February 1st, February 15th, March 21st, and March 28th for anyone who wishes to have their tax returns prepared.

Appointments will start at 8:30 AM and will continue up until the last appointment slot is filled each day, at 2:30 p.m. Kinder can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
