Minor Hill board members appointed Cory Medley as Chief of the city's volunteer fire department during the January meeting.

Medley is a Public Safety Officer with Pulaski Police Department and former chief of the Giles County Fire and Rescue Squad.

During the meeting, a profit and loss statement for the city of Minor Hill was shown following a final payment to Giles County for tax revenues on payments to the Minor Hill Utility District.

The statement showed monthly income of $20,553, which surpassed expenses of $20,075 for a net income of $478.

Mayor Tracy Wilburn told the board that he had been told the city owed $1,012, which should be paid off that month, from a division of sales tax revenues over water sales by the Minor Hill Utility District. The previous division was not calculated by the city, but was corrected by the State Comptroller’s Offi ce.

At first, the state said Minor Hill owed approximately $28,000, a figure which was later revised downward to $14,000, the mayor said.
