Lawrence County Commissioner Chris Jackson has been named recipient of the University of North Alabama Political Service Award.


Jackson, a resident of Loretto, received the award at the UNA Alumni Awards Banquet. He represents the Second District on the Lawrence County Commission.


He was first elected in August 2006 at the age of 19, the youngest person ever elected to public office in Lawrence County, and the youngest person ever elected to the office of county commissioner in Tennessee. He is currently in his fourth term in office.


Jackson is employed with Tennessee Tech University, where he serves as site coordinator for Distance Education in Lawrence County.
