July 1st, Tennessee lawmakers increased the consequences for assaulting any police officer, firefighter, and nurse.

A law called “Back the Blue Act” is answering prayers for many that have served as a public servant.

Public Servants keep our communities safe and Tennessee lawmakers have made a new law to minimize assaults on people on the front line. Increasing these consequences is a sigh of relief for first responders’ loved ones as they constantly worry about their safety.

The new law states that assaulting a police officer could land you in prison for more than 60 days and be fined over $10,000. As for assaulting a nurse or firefighter, people would spend up to 30 days in prison and be required to pay over $5,000.
