Dalton Knecht will be a teammate of some of the best players in NBA history. Knecht, a former Northern Colorado player, was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 17th overall pick in the NBA Draft Wednesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Drafted as a 6-foot-6 shooting forward out of Tennessee, Knecht will be a new teammate of all-time NBA scoring leader and four-time champion LeBron James, one of the highest-profile athletes in the world.

Knecht going to the Lakers also offers him the chance to work with another marquee figure in the sport, first-year coach J.J. Redick.

Redick played 17 seasons in the NBA with six teams after a storied college career at Duke where he was the player of the year in 2006.
