Minor Hill patrolman Zach Powell announced his resignation effective June 30 to pursue a position with the Giles County Sheriff's Department during the Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting.
Figures were presented to the board that showed the city was currently negative $362.95 in net income with one month remaining in this year's budget.
The board unanimously approved a budget amendment that is expected to balance the budget by the end of June 30th.
The 2020-21 budget was approved which projects $268,728 in total income with $261,500 in total expenses.
Next year's budget could also see an additional $41,718 from a grant associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The board unanimously approved a motion to apply for the grant which would be used for the repaving of Puncheon Branch Road.
Giles County business owner Harsh Patel attended the board meeting with plans to build a liquor store in the lot south of the Minor Hill Post Office.
The board unanimously approved the site.
