An attorney with the 22nd Judicial District Public Defender's office was sworn in this week as the newest member of the Giles County Election Commission.
Shara Flacy replaces Allen Barrett who recently resigned.
Flacy has served on the Giles County Regional Planning Commission,.
The commission members also met the new Election Commission, Deputy Nikki Lawhorn.
With elections in August and November, members tentatively accepted a list of poll officials who work each precinct during elections.
The administrator of Elections Zena Dickey said she had contacted prior poll workers to determine their interest in working the polls in August and November.
Dickey said the state will provide protective equipment for poll workers.
The commission reviewed 91 new voter registration applications and that new absentee forms have COVID-19 as a reason to vote absentee.
