Following three rounds of votes, the Maury County Board of Education has unanimously selected Mt. Juliet Elementary School Principal Michael Hickman, its next superintendent of schools.
Hickman will lead the districts more than 800 educators serving about 13,000 students.
Hickman, a 1990 graduate of Columbia Central High School and an active member of the National Guard, spoke of putting the people of the school district first and offered a basic roadmap for dramatically increasing academic performance at the public institution under his leadership during his interview late last month.
