Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that at least 10,000 people marched through the streets of Nashville Thursday afternoon demanding racial justice, despite evening storms.

Tennessean teenagers, Jade Fuller and Emma Rose Smith, both 15, founded the coalition, Teens 4 Equality, along with a group of other teenagers. The coalition hopes to create a conversation of unity in Tennessee.

Teens 4 Equality planned the march which began at Bicentennial Mall at 4 p.m. and ended with a march to the State Capitol.

Early reports confirm that Thursday’s protest was peaceful. In Nashville on Saturday, a peaceful afternoon march was followed by destruction later in the evening. The teenage organizers of Thursday's demonstration were adamant that they would not allow unrest to distract from their calls for social justice. By late Thursday, after more than five hours of marching, no serious incidents or crimes had been reported.
