The American Red Cross announced a need for blood donations as hospitals start non-urgent and elective procedures.
The Red Cross says that the hospital demand for blood products has grown by 30%.
Donors who come before May 31st will receive a free T-shirt, by mail and between June 1st and 30th will receive a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card via email.
According to the Red Cross, Blood donors are urgently needed to prevent another shortage like the one that occurred at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March.
“Blood donors have played a vital role in the lives of patients who have needed lifesaving transfusions during this pandemic, and patients continue to depend on donors each and every day,” said Paul Sullivan, senior vice president, Red Cross Blood Services.
Healthy individuals who are feeling well are asked to make an appointment to donate by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
