The Giles County Election Commission approved city elections and a referendum for the August 6th ballot during a recent meeting.
Inspection and approval of 224 voter registrations were inspected and approved by unanimous decision.
The commission approved the August 6th referendum that will see Giles County residents vote on an increase in the Sales and Use Tax.  The tax increase would be a 0.25 percent increase from 9.5 to 9.75 percent.
Letters from Elkton, Lynnville and Minor Hill for called elections on August 6th were approved. The elections include four aldermanic positions in Elkton, two aldermanic positions and a mayoral position in Lynnville and three aldermanic positions in Minor Hill.
During the meeting, the commission accepted a resignation letter of W. Allen Barrett who resigned for personal reasons.
