As unemployment has reached a new high across Tennessee, more workers from Giles County continue to sign up for claims.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce said  last week, there were 68,968 new unemployment claims in the state.
That is up from 2,702 claims five weeks before, 39,096 claims four weeks before and down from 94,492 claims three weeks before, 116,141 two weeks the week before and down 5,804 the week before as coronavirus caused layoffs in the state.
Data shows some of the hardest hit areas of unemployment include northern and southern Middle Tennessee.
In Southern Middle Tennessee that includes Giles County, the number of new claims were 6,656.
