The Ardmore Alabama Town Council met in a regular session last week.
Mayor Billy Shannon and Terry Barkley gave an update on the sidewalk project. The town owes Morrell Engineering $8,271.51 and the contractor $52,327.85 minus the $30,000 in liquidated damages. The Town of Ardmore is responsible for the amount of $30,599.36.
Councilman Mary Hobbs made a motion to pay the $8,271.51 to Morrell Engineering and $22,327.85 to the contractor after the restriping and signs are back in place.
Barkley told the council Athens Fence Company is behind four to six weeks, but suggested the town add their name to the schedule and secure time for the work to begin.  Alabama State Senator Tim Melson gave $10,000.00 and Alabama State Representative Danny Crawford gave $5,000.00 for the new fence.
Mayor Shannon stated the tax revenue for the town was ahead of last year's numbers for March, but he projects the town will lose approximately $10,000.00 in tax base in April.
The mayor also shared the 2018-2019 Final Audit stating the town spent more money than was collected due to numerous projects being completed.
The total included onetime projects that should not have to be redone for another ten to twenty years. All the projects were passed by the council and the money had already been allocated.
Councilman Hobbs made a motion to approve the 2018-2019 Final Audit.
