The Giles County Board of Education nominated Acting Schools Director Vickie Beard as the next director during a meeting Thursday night.
Nomination interview with Beard will be at the next Board's Work Session on April 16th.
The 5 p.m. was by teleconference due to the spread of COVID-19 and the protection of the health, safety and welfare of Giles County citizens.
School Attorney Tim Underwood said he would meet with Beard concerning her contract before June 1st.
Also, policies approved on second reading was: 5.701 Substitute Teachers;3.204 Risk Management; 4.302 Field Trips & Excursions; 3.405 removing Commercial Advertising on School Buses and 4.606 Graduation Activities.
Beard said due to COVID-19 there would be no Supervisor's reports.
County Executive Melissa Green also spoke to the board concerning COVID-issues in Giles County. She advised each member and the people in Giles County to wear masks when going out, stay at home and try to stop all rumors.
The next School Board Work Session is April 16th.
