The Ardmore City Council met by teleconference during their April regular meeting because of social distancing and stay at home orders by Governor Bill Lee.
Alderman Paul VanManen made a motion to keep the library closed and lay off employees until April 30th.
During the meeting, Alderman Hargrove told the board he does not think it is fair to let library employees receive unemployment plus a $600.00 extra benefit from the government when our other city employees have to work their regular time and pay.  "If we protect library employees, we should protect all city employees," he added.
The board also agreed that the street department employees continue to work during April.
Park Director Tim Turner and Alderman Spencer Smith agreed there is much work to be done on the baseball fields and the park in general.
All of the aldermen agreed that the city hall door will remain locked and no one is to be allowed in.
