Giles County Executive Melissa Greene announced live in WKSR’s Studio that she will officially declare a State of Emergency for Giles County effective Friday.

This authorizes Giles County officials to make decisions concerning how county offices and government will operate during this time and offers them more flexibility on how they can handle scheduling, committee meetings, office closures, and various procedures and formalities. They will be closing courthouse and annex offices, and moving to entirely online and phone business.

Greene emphasized that the status of Giles County is unchanged and there are still three cases confirmed in Giles County. This is not a reason to panic; it is simply a tool to help the County navigate some changes to protect the health and well-being of county employees and the public.
