This afternoon live in WKSR’s studio, Giles County Executive Melissa Greene and Mayor Pay Ford made statements on the Coronavirus/ COVID 19 pandemic with some updates on how the county and city will be proceeding in light of recent developments.

Giles County Executive Melissa Greene said that everyone is “working morning, noon, and night” in an effort to keep the public safe. She urged individuals and businesses to practice good social-distancing and alternate ways of conducting business during this time, reminding everyone that staying home as much as possible is the best way to protect yourself and others.

She addressed some changes coming to the county offices as of tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th. All county offices will now be closed to the public, though employees will still be there working. They will now primarily be conducting business online or by phone. If there is any business that must be done in person, it will require an appointment. These changes are in effect until April 10th, at which point they will re-evaluate. She said, “this is uncharted territory for everyone, but I assure you that the best people are working around the clock to keep you as safe as possible”.

Vehicle registrations previously due in March or April have been extended until June. If your driver’s license expires before April 18th, that deadline has already been extended.

Elkton Mayor Jim Caldwell released a statement informing the public that the Library and Community room in Elkton are closed and the City Park is no longer taking reservations. City Hall is also closed to the public but employees are still working. You can call for more information or to make an appointment.

Mayor Pat Ford said that the City of Pulaski will follow suit in an effort to be a united front. Starting tomorrow, (Tuesday), City Hall of Pulaski will be closed to the public, but they will also still be there working. In-person business will be by appointment only. There are alternate options for paying your utility bills if you normally pay them in person at City Hall. There is a drop box located at City Hall for utility bills or even tax payments. There are also drive-through payment options at local banks and online payment as well. There will be more information and phone numbers and contact information posted on the City Hall doors.
