A Giles County man reached a plea agreement after pleading guilty in connection with shooting a dog last year.

Ralph Lamar Dover, Jr. age 65 was charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals after intentionally shooting a dog not belonging to him.

In the agreement, Dover pled guilty to Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and received a sentence of two years, suspended to two years supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,000 in fines and court costs.

Due to a clean criminal record and his age, Dover qualified for diversion, meaning, after successful completion of his probation, the conviction can be removed from his record.
