The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Giles County through tonight.

The second storm system of 2020 brought moderate to heavy rain to the county during the night and will continue throughout today (Tuesday) with rainfall totaling up to 3 inches expected.

Scattered thunderstorms may produce some localized strong wind and locally heavy downpours could cause some street and road flooding.

Barry Hyatt of the Giles County Highway Department reported all roads were passable at 10 a.m., but the county was expecting more rain this afternoon which could cause road closures.

Bus drivers used their own discretion on routes this morning as schools were open.

Heavy rainfall could lead to more flooding of roads, low lying areas, low water crossings, rivers, creeks and streams.
