This winter’s unusually warm and wet weather has another surprise for the South this weekend, a spring-like storm system expected to bring up to 5 inches of rain.

The Giles County Sheriff Department encourages everyone to pay attention to the weather throughout Saturday due to forecasted storms with possible tornadoes.

In the event of severe weather, seek shelter and please only travel if absolutely necessary. Fallen debris can cause roadway obstructions along with flash flooding.

To report any roadway obstructions contact Giles County Dispatcher at 931-363-0911 and please remember to report any power outages to PES and reserve E-911 for emergency use only.

Giles County is expected to receive heavy rainfall Saturday, with approximately 1.5 to 3 inches, along with possible scattered showers Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.
