A local educator has been selected as  Giles County Supervisor of the Year.

Yvonne Rose Brown, is the school systems Special Education and Federal Programs Supervisor. She was selected for this award by her peers in the county and will compete on State Level later this year.

As supervisor of both IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and ESA (Elementary and Second Education Act) programs,  Brown's greatest area of strength is in program implementation and quality assurance.

She works with district-level and school-level staff to ensure programs are implemented in an ethical and effective way that will result in improved student learning.

Brown provides specific, actionable, differentiated feedback to teachers in an effort to improve and refine teaching and learning.

She has an  AA degree from Martin Methodist College; Bachelor of Science , Athens State University; Masters, Masters plus 30 and EDS in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University and is a Career Level 1 teacher.

Her hobbies and pass time is reading, relaxing and crafts.
