An early morning fire in Lawrenceburg caused thousands of dollars in damage to the Dura Automotive Plant on Tuesday morning.  

According to a press release, fire fighters with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department as well as New Prospect and Ethridge departments were dispatched to 2200 Helton Drive at approximately 5:30 am to a report of a structure fire with flames showing.  

Upon arrival, fire personnel, found the building evacuated and smoke visible from the rear of the building, before locating maintenance employees attempting to extinguish the fire.  Fire fighters contained the blaze to an industrial booth and were able to successfully put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby equipment.  

Total estimated damage was twenty thousand dollars.  No injuries were reported. The building was deemed safe and returned to full operation.
