Stephanie Owen Fowlkes, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, after an extended illness. She was born in Nashville, graduated the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville and earned a bachelor's degree in Education and master's degree in English at the University of Mississippi. She was also a freelance journalist for the Tennessean newspaper.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Franklin Fowlkes Jr, daughters Carrie Fowlkes Brindley and husband Bryan and Catherine Lankford Fowlkes and husband Nicholas Bean, and 2 grandchildren.

A private celebration of life will be determined by her family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Tennessee Children's Home (P.O. Box 10, Spring Hill, TN 37174) and the Giles County Public Library (122 South Second St. Pulaski, TN 38478).
