The first of its kind Baby Box in this area is coming to Lawrenceburg.

Installation is underway on a Safe Haven Baby Box at Lawrenceburg Fire Station 1.

The box was purchased through local donations to provide mothers in crisis a safe means of surrendering newborns, as is allowed under Tennessee law for the first fourteen days of life.

The box is climate controlled and outfitted with an alarm system to immediately alert both the fire department and E-911 that a baby has been surrendered.
