Tuesday, high school senior Lilly Baker was honored for her heroism. In early February, she jumped into action when she saw an elderly woman stuck in a wheelchair on the train tracks in Ardmore.

Baker heard the sirens and train horns blaring when she was trying to save an elderly woman who was stuck in a wheelchair on a train track, as the train approached.

Somehow she managed to drag the elderly woman off the train tracks just in time to avoid a more serious fate.

Her good works mirror what Lilly wants to become, a nurse, and she currently works at a nursing home to prepare for her career.

Lilly has kept in touch with the family of the elderly woman she saved, they’re very thankful for what she did. The woman is on the road to recovery, and they both hope they can reunite with one another in the near future.

The Limestone County Republican Executive Committee recognized Lilly Tuesday night for her bravery, courage, and willingness to help a neighbor.
