The UT Extension Offices in Giles, Marshall, Maury, and Lawrence Counties are partnering together to offer a Beginning Beef Management Series.

This series will focus on the very basics of beef production and is geared toward beginner beef producers or those considering getting into the beef business.

Four meetings with topics are scheduled as follows: February 6th in Pulaski (Marketing and Management), February 13th in Lewisburg (Reproduction and Health), February 20th in Lawrenceburg (Forages and Nutrition) and February 27th in Columbia (Stockmanship and Working Facilities).

For beef producers who have never been certified through the Master Beef Producer Program this class will qualify for certification. In order to receive certification producers must pre-register and pay the registration fees. The fees are $200 or $100 if the producer has a current Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification. All sessions are free to those not interested in Master Beef certification. Each meeting will start with a light meal at 5:30 pm and the program will begin at 6 pm. For those needing BQA certification, it will be offered on February 6th before the first meeting at 4:30 pm in Pulaski.

All producers who plan to attend should contact the Extension Office at 931-363-3523. Producers who want the Master Beef certification will need to complete an application and pay fees to the Extension office prior to February 6.
