The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Aldermen have adopted an ordinance to lower the pollutant parameters for area industries.

City Administrator Terry Harrison recently told the board that the pollutant parameters are responsible for setting the standard for quantity of industrial pollutants which allowed to be discharged into the city sewer system.

Alderman Hardin Franklin expressed concerns about the increase in allowed pollution relative to any health problems that could arise from allowing the ordinance to go through.

Harrison explained there should be no health concerns due to the water being discharged beneath the raw water intake. Our treatment process is able to remove these pollutants at the parameters that the engineers are recommending, added Harrison.

Harrison said engineers put the information together and it is their recommendation that we amend this Sewer Ordinance for those factories.

The sampling and reporting of the water after treatment will continue and not be effected by the ordinance change.
