The Elkton City Council discussed culverts on Market Street during the January meeting.

Alderman Bill Bonjour requested adopting an ordinance on connecting the culverts to city streets.

Attorney Joe Fowlkes advised the council to gather additional information about what other cities do in similar culvert issues.

Also on the agenda was the dump truck being out of service. The council discussed options to repair the truck or removing the dump bed and putting it on a new vehicle. The issue was tabled until the February meeting.

Board members also discussed contracting the mowing versus continuing to having a part-time employee mow. They agreed on placing an ad in the local paper for bids on mowing city property.

Last on the agenda was the insurance payment due in February.

Mayor Jim Caldwell broke down three potential options of paying it which includes, paying the insurance all at once, breaking it up into quarterly payments or making a down payment and paying the rest in three-month intervals.

Council approved paying $8742.50 in January and pay $2914.16 quarterly until payed off.
