The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday marked the 25th anniversary that celebrates the Civil Rights leader's life and legacy.

The cold weather did not keep folks in Giles County from celebrating as a Unity March assembly began on the north side of the courthouse and a march followed around the historic square.

The traditional evening celebration was held at Matthew's House of Praise with Jeremiah Gardner as special speaker.
