Giles County Acting Director Vickie Beard reported to the school board during a regular session meeting Thursday that members of the Energy Systems Group will attend a question and answer session during the School Committee meeting at 9 a.m. Monday at the Courthouse Annex.

ESG recommended a $16.2 million option for schools improvement project during a meeting last year.

In an earlier board meeting, Russ Nelson from ESG explained the work to be done, which included replacing 70 percent of the heating and cooling in Giles County schools. 

Giles County High School and Bridgeforth Middle School, were identified as needing the most work. ESG proposes to remove all old heating and cooling equipment and also windows are an important part of the project at both GCHS and BMS as is new electrical service.

A list of problems at other schools in the county have been documented.

Also, during the school board meeting Keith Stacey, assistant director of Schools, said the lighting project for Richland ball fields has begun by the school’s maintenance department and a drawing for the ramp at Minor Hill School by Emmett Smith will be presented to the board at a later day.

The next board work session is January 23rd and a meeting on February 6th.
