A man was shot to death by Limestone County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday evening.

The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. at a home on Sugar Way in a rural area of Elkmont.

George Dison, 57, was declared dead at the scene, said Stephen Young, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

After two deputies arrived at the scene to investigate a report of domestic violence, Dison walked out of the woods carrying a shotgun and ignored orders to drop the weapon.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with a probe of the deadly incident.
