A court date has been set for two Giles County men arrested on burglary and theft charges.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a prowler call at 2568 Black Road the evening of December 20th, after neighbors reported suspicious activity at the residence.

The residence belonged to the Curt Alsup family who were recently struck by tragedy in the form of a motor vehicle accident, which left Curt deceased and his family hospitalized with injuries.

Dylan Jacob Townsend, 19, of Prospect was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property. Townsend is currently being held without bond at the Giles County Jail and court date has been set for January 2nd at 9 a.m.

Tyler Chance Hargrove, 19, of Pulaski was also placed under arrest and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property. Hargrove is currently being held without bond at the Giles County Jail and court date is also January 2nd at 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival at the property, deputies reported the obvious burglary of the residence to administration and the Criminal Investigation Division.

Tennessee Wildlife Officer David Crane had information that would eventually break the case after having contact with the two individuals during a traffic stop for a wildlife violation, seizing some firearms in the process.

Upon further investigation, the serial numbers were a match for some of the firearms missing from the Alsup residence.

On Christmas Eve authorities with the GCSD worked into the evening, placing Townsend and Hargrove into custody.
