It was an active Sunday afternoon and evening across Giles County with heavy rainfall and strong wind.

Average rain total was 2 inches in the city and county with some areas receiving over 4 inches.

Many roads across the area were impacted by the heavy rainfall.

According to Barry Hyatt, County Road Superintendent, water that was across several roads Sunday night have receded this (Monday) morning." We have some roads that have been washed out and trees down from the wind" said Hyatt.

Giles County Rescue Squad reported 4 water calls within 4 hours. Two vehicles without injuries were pulled from high waters throughout the county and they ask never drive through high water, it is not worth the risk.

Hyatt said trees and limbs have been pulled away from roads and asked everyone to be patience with his department until they can pick them up.

Pulaski Electric Service reported 5 outages in the Southern part of Giles County due to winds and heavy rains that effected approximately 70 customers. 

Officials at Anderson County Fire Department in Alabama said a young woman died after her car was submerged in flood waters at the intersection of Highway 207 and County Road 50.

The forecast is much quieter over the next couple of days before the next storm system brings us rain later this week.
