Energy Systems Group will be discussed during the Giles County School Board work session Thursday at the Central Office.

Russ Nelson from ESG explained in an earlier meeting the work to be done is replacing 70 percent of the heating and cooling in Giles County schools. 

Giles County High School and Bridgeforth Middle School, was identified as needing the most work. ESG proposes to remove all old heating and cooling equipment and also windows are an important part of the project at both GCHS and BMS as is new electrical service.

Nelson said the total energy and maintenance savings from the work at all schools is estimated at $9 million, 60 percent of the total project cost.

Board members will also discuss the 2019 LEA Compliance Report during the 5 p.m. meeting.

Compliance Report is a document used by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) in the annual process of ensuring local education agencies (LEAs) are in compliance with all state laws and State Board of Education (SBE) rules.

Other action items on the agenda include first reading policies on School District Records, Basic Program/Class Size ratio, Student Records and Compensation Guides and Contracts.

Policies on second readings are unmanned aircraft/drones, code of conduct plus textbook selection, distribution and care.

The next regular board meeting will be December 5th at the Central Office.
