The Tennessee higher education commission announced this week the Tennessee Service Member portal, an interactive database which translates prior military experience to academic credit at Tennessee public colleges. 

According to a press release, prior to enrollment, current and former service members may utilize the portal to review all colleges where their military experience may equate to academic credit and allows the users to see a complete picture of their options.

The tool requires users to specify their military occupation specialty, rank, and training date.

This information is then used to generate a list of institutions where credit may be awarded to service members at Tennessee public colleges.
