Money to help build a trail and to prepare a master plan for the Agri Park will come from a $20,000 grant awarded to the county by Tennessee Department of Health.

Planning is underway for the project, according to the Giles County Health Department’s third quarter report.

The committee plans to have more information and possibly a sketch about the walking trail planned for the park by January.

With a master plan, the county hopes to increase its chances of qualifying for more grants for park improvements.

Giles County Executive Melissa Greene said the Giles County Agri Park reported more income in the first seven months of 2019 than for the first eight months of 2018.

Through August 3rd this year income of $8,070 was reported compared with $7,884 through September 8th, 2018.

Also, leftover money from a county solid waste grant was used to help obtain 10 benches, six picnic tables, and two picnic tables that met Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

In June, an engineering report stated the bleachers are structurally sound at the park and need improvements such as hand rails and fencing mesh for safety reasons to prevent falls.
