The widow of an Elkmont man who died in a shooting tied to a property dispute is now suing the man charged with his death.

According to media sources, Kenneth Adams was charged with murder for the death of his neighbor, William Brantley whom he allegedly shot over a property dispute in March.

The widow Shannon Brantley filed a wrongful death claim which applies due to the fact that someone died during the action of a crime.

Officials with the Limestone County Sheriff's Department advised both Adams and Brantley have fought over property for years and a deputy had responded an hour prior to the shooting, but left because it didn't appear to be a dangerous situation.

A dollar amount has not been attached to the lawsuit that will be left up to a jury.

Adams is expected to go on trial for murder in January.
