Giles County will observe Veterans Day Monday at 11 am at the gazebo on North side of the courthouse to hear Brigadier General Ryan Britton speak.

All local veteran’s service organizations will take part in the program, says Giles County Veteran Service Officer Barry Alsup.

In addition to the program, the Giles County Baptist Association is sponsoring a breakfast for veterans at the First National Bank from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m.

The American Legion is having stew for veterans at the legion building immediately following the Veterans Day program.

James Malone, Veterans of Foreign Wars commander, and his sons will be placing American flags around town.

According to Alsup, at the end of the Veterans Day program a drawing will be held for the veterans quilt, made by the Quirky Quilters of Pulaski.

Alsup said some of our local restaurants will also be feeding veterans free of charge on Veterans Day.

Closings that have been reported on Veteran’s Day are Pulaski Electric System, Senior Citizen’s building, all banks in Giles County, Pulaski Post Office, and City of Pulaski along with Street and Sanitation Department. Monday’s garbage will be collected with the normal Tuesday route.

All Giles County Schools will be opened Monday.
